POINT CHEVALIER HOUSE | Heritage Bungalow Renovation & Contemporary Addition

Point Chevalier's streetscape hasn't changed. From the front, this 1920s bungalow reads exactly as it always has β€” a well-kept character home on one of Auckland's most sought-after streets. Step inside, and the story is entirely different.

The renovation preserves the original bungalow's facade and front rooms with care, allowing the heritage fabric to hold its presence on the street. Behind it, a new rear entertainment wing unfolds β€” a kitchen scullery, powder room, dining area, outdoor fire feature, and a combined pool and spa that together redefine how the home is lived in.

Connecting old and new is a full-height glass corridor β€” elegant, transparent, and deliberately honest about the conversation between two eras. It doesn't try to mimic the bungalow it joins, nor compete with the addition it leads to. It simply bridges them, flooding the transition with light.

Completed in 2023 in collaboration with Intact Construction, the project is a testament to what's possible when a client's vision is matched by the patience to get every detail right.
