MURDOCH VILLA | GREY LYNN Heritage Renovation & Contemporary Addition

Found in the heart of Grey Lynn, this 1911 villa had held onto much of its original charm - but its layout told a different story. Compartmentalised and short on space, it wasn't living up to its potential.

Macfie Architecture undertook a complete renovation and reconfiguration, working through the home from front to back to unlock the flow that was always there.

At the front, the master bedroom was reimagined with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, joined by two generous children's bedrooms, a formal lounge, and a new master bathroom. At the rear, an entirely new entertainment wing takes over - kitchen, dining, and living areas separated by custom steel doors, opening to a covered outdoor dining space, a sleek outdoor fireplace, and a concrete pool set within landscaped gardens. A lower-level laundry and bathroom connect the interior directly to the pool area, making the outdoor spaces as liveable as those within.

The result is a home with a clear, uninterrupted sightline from the front door straight through to the pool and the Grey Lynn skyline beyond - a single glance that tells you exactly what this renovation achieved.

Murdoch Villa sold within 24 hours of listing - a fitting result for a home that had finally become everything it was meant to be.
