KOHIMARAMA TOWNHOUSE DEVELOPMENT Multi-Unit New-Build, Kohimarama

Some property projects are purely transactional. This one was personal.

A resourceful couple with a long-term vision for their Kohimarama site enlisted Macfie Architecture to design a multi-unit development that would make the most of their subdivided property — while preserving the heritage residence that had stood there for years. Their teenage sons contributed to the construction alongside the professional team, a detail that says everything about the spirit in which this project was undertaken.

The brief called for a luxury townhouse development that would sit in harmony with Kohimarama's established character rather than imposing upon it. The result is four expansive apartments — each with two to three bedrooms, bathrooms, and ensuites — finished to a standard that reflects both the calibre of the location and the ambition of the family behind it.

The heritage residence on the site was carefully preserved throughout, the new development arranged in respectful dialogue with the existing dwelling rather than overwhelming it.

A multimillion-dollar development built with diligence, care, and more than a little family pride.
