The 1990s plaster home is one of Auckland's most common renovation briefs — and one of its most consequential. Water ingress, failing cladding, framing compromised by years of moisture, and a home that no longer meets healthy homes standards. Our clients purchased this property knowing exactly what they were taking on, with a clear intention to fix it properly.
Macfie Architecture oversaw a complete exterior overhaul — the plaster cladding stripped back entirely, the framing and insulation upgraded to modern standards, and weatherboards installed in their place. A transformation that addressed the cause rather than the symptom, and future-proofed the home for decades to come.
Inside, the floor plan was reconfigured and a new kitchen addition introduced, creating a spacious open-plan living, dining, kitchen, and lounge area that flows to a decked outdoor entertaining space. Four generous bedrooms, two bathrooms, a powder room, scullery, study, and double garage complete a home that now functions as well as it looks.
